Adam Buckley thinks he knows who it is, but has problems of his own to deal with. Damaged from a recent break-up, his narcolepsy worsening, he learns that his friends have become suicidally obsessed with finding insane, unexplored parts of London.
He glimpses figures in the subterranean gloom, half-recognised faces at parties to which he can’t remember being invited, indications of a life lived yet never remembered. As his confusion deepens, so too does the threat of violence. In peeling back so many of the city’s faces, he fears that the skull beneath its skin might well be known to him.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Conrad Williams was born in Warrington in 1969 and has been in print since 1988. He has sold around 80 short stories to a diverse range of publications and anthologies including Panurge, Sunk Island Review, This Is, Back Brain Recluse, The Third Alternative, The Ex-Files, A Book of Two Halves, Neon Lit, The Mammoth Book of Dracula, Dark Terrors 2, 3 and 4; Best New Horror 9; The Yearˆs Best Horror XXII and Phantoms of Venice.
In 1993 he won the Littlewood Arc Prize and the British Fantasy Award for Best Newcomer (his story 'Ancient Flavours' was also nominated for Best Short Story in that year) and in 1998, his debut novel 'Head Injuries' (The Do-Not Press) was published to widespread acclaim. The novel was optioned by Revolution Films in the same year. In 2001, PS Publishing published a limited edition novella ‘Nearly People', with an introduction by Michael Marshall Smith and a cover by Polish artist Wieslaw Walkuski. He lives in France and London, sharing space with the writer Rhonda Carrier and their two sons.
